Hayley Mills-Styles
Springboard Artist 2014 – 2018
"Unique, Inspiring, Fun" - Hayley Mills-Styles describes her experience working with the Tetley.
Textile artist Hayley Mills-Styles first began her work with the Tetley in 2014 when she was involved in the Springboard programme.
"I worked in the gallery on a casual basis, learning about the history of the building and the varied exhibition programme. I continued my freelance work on family art workshops and special events and in 2014 I was offered the assistant artist position for the After-School Club Programme. Since then I have run many family, school and adult workshops with The Tetley."
Using the Springboard programme, our aim is to help artists in the early stages of their careers. Hayley Mills-Styles describes the impact working with the Tetley had on her career:
"(Working with) The Tetley has given me a wealth of experience which has helped to develop my freelance career. Since working there, I have gone on to work with schools and other organisations across Yorkshire."
" I met some great people at The Tetley over the years [...] I grew more confident through my various roles."
Since her time at the Tetley, Hayley has become a member of the Society for Embroidered Work and participated in a number of exhibitions in and around Leeds.

What is Springboard?
Springboard is a free year-long arts education and participation training programme at the Tetley. We work with artists who are students, recent graduates, or 'early career' artists by exploring and supporting their development in arts education and participation. This training is followed by shadowing opportunities to develop and deliver their own session.
